A tell-tale sign winter is fast approaching was over the weekend of November 22nd. Joe Houghton, of Houghton Marine, and his crew spent the weekend removing the last of the buoys and moorings in both Winthrop and Boston Harbors. Docked at Crystal Cove Marina, Dave and Brian (see photos) are on hand to help pressure wash the buoys and moorings for winter storage. “It’s cold this time of year,” says Joe Houghton, “and I’d like to take a break for the winter.” Based in Marblehead, Houghton Marine has been in business for 29 years. Staff includes three of Houghton’s nephews, his son and daughter. As a reminder, make sure you get your town stickers for both your boat and buoy after receiving your bill in the Spring. This is usually due within sixty days. Joe looks forward to re-servicing your buoys again beginning April 1, 2009. Any questions, give the office a call at 781-631-9338.
